Description: Horse-shaped spout of an aquamanile. The horse’s head is very skilfully mastered. The mouth of the horse with distinct nostrils is half-open, with bit on both sides. The bit rings are connected through the nose band and the reins hang on the sides of the neck. The reins were held by a horseman above the withers, as it is indicated by the places of breakage and by the remnant of a human hand with five fingers. The round eyes were probably formed by small balls inserted in the hollows. The eyes are topped by distinct eyelids. The ears are broken off and the outlet hole is placed in between. The whole body, more precisely the head and the neck, are covered with an impressed relief “wavy” pattern representing the mane. The mane does not differ in its decoration from the rest of the neck, but it seems that it was modelled separately and then additionally applied to the horse’s neck.
